our story
The Santa Cruz Distillery was established in 1919 by the Cuban Alcohol Refining Company, an American firm, with the goal of producing alcohol and spirits. In 1937, the distillery was acquired by Compañía Cubana de Alcohol Industrial y Destilería S.A. and shifted its focus from industrial alcohol and brandy to developing new beverage brands. In the 1940s, the distillery launched several new products under the slogan "From the producer to the consumer." One notable brand born during this period was Legendario Rum, which debuted in 1946.
